Knave of Swords is co-operative in profit sharing and idea sharing. You don’t have to be a seasoned director to put forward a story idea and you don’t have to be an executive to benefit financially from a commercial success.
While the studio will be started with a single leader, it’s for pragmatics during the rocky start only, and will transition to a fully co-operative model as soon as possible, with sights set on a timeline between the first and second productions.
The entire studio will be built remotely, with no geographic boundaries!
About the CEO
Emyliane Clemence, 2D generalist, director, idea-person. Starting Knave of Swords started in mid-2020 as a “faraway dream”, but since then, it’s being built on passion, logistics, business acumen, experience, and so many spreadsheets. Em started as an illustrator, turned into a design, then a marketer, then a tea blender, then an animator, and now this - here’s to constantly walking in any direction, even if it’s not always straight ahead.

Knave of Swords Productions (Remote) is just beginning and we have our eye on our first television production! As we take our first steps, the search is on for exceptional 2D Animators for the production of an online animated series. Production will begin in March 2022.
If you’re a creative person with a passion for telling deeply meaningful stories and experience turning scribbles into delightful animation, we want to hear from you! The ideal team-member for this role is driven, able to stick to a schedule, collaborative and supportive, happy on a small but mighty team, likes receiving AND offering feedback, and wants their projects to always be technically and artistically beautiful.
You’ll be one of a few, but not many, taking storyboards and turning them into television-ready animation. You’ll be one of the first members of the team, which means this is an incredible opportunity to shape the way we all work together - from software, to workflow, to culture, you will have the ownership of your process and your place in this studio.
Responsibilities:
+ Create final, fully posed, colored and in-betweened character animation based on provided storyboards
+ Embellish character action and emotion
+ Strong character acting ability, solid sense of comedic timing, high quality draftsmanship and drawing abilities
+ Well developed critical eye with strong attention to detail
+ Ability to analyze own work for edits and refinement
+ Applicants must be able to follow the schedule set by team leadership
Qualifications:
+ Proficiency in ToonBoom Harmony software is required.
+ Two (2) + years of professional studio experience OR a degree with demonstration of aptitude and skill.
+ Online portfolio for submission is required
+ Applicants will be required to either demonstrate their competence with the specific subject skills required through their work samples provided or through an art test.
+ Previous experience in a broadcast animation environment and knowledge of a studio production pipeline is valuable but not necessary.
